Scroll down to discover a little bit about each of us, individually.
Hi, I'm Lauren Relojo Mira and welcome friends! Here, you will read about my life as a mother, a designer, and crafter. It's a creative outlet for me to share my inspirations, personal artwork, crafts and the millions of fun things I do as a mom, through this venue.
I'm a loving wife, to my amazing husband, Mark, and a mother to a toddler and boy/girl twins. In my free time (whenever I have it), somewhere I find time to make stuff and blog about it. I'm inspired by
EVERYTHING, as you will notice in several of my posts. Call me
Mama-razzi,
cause when it comes to documenting our everyday chaos, I'm right there
photographing away. I also work from home as a part-time designer for a licensing company located in
Cincinnati, OH. I graduated from the Art Academy of Cincinnati in '07 with a major in Visual Communications and emphasis in Graphic Design.
So needless to say, my home studio space is filled with a "mix" of
many things. Whether it's designing on the computer or sewing or embroidering or Polaroid-ing, I have experimented in several forms of media. Yup, you guessed it…hence, "Mixie" Studio. Here's what my studio looks like on its "clean" days.
What an artist is trying to do for people is bring them closer to something, because of course art is about sharing: you wouldn't be an artist if you didn't want to share an experience, a thought. –David Hockney
Hi y’all! I’m Sara Relojo, and I am the proud little sis of the Mixie Studio duo. I joined blogging forces with Lauren after moving from our hometown of Cincinnati. We designed this space to share all of the creative adventures life brings our way while miles apart. We extend a warm welcome to share the creative vibes with you!
I live in Lexington, KY with my lovely beer-brewing boyfriend, Andy. We moved to Lexington to start a new, exciting life in a small but growing college town. During the week, I am Ms. Sara, a Pre-K teacher to 4-5 year old students along with my amazing co-teacher, Ms. Kelsey. I LOVE creating lesson plans that teach through art, imagination, and stories. I am inspired by my relationships with family, friends, and students. Because of this, I gravitate toward making work for others. I love to make things that give people a moment of happiness, confidence, or laughter. I graduated from the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 2009 with a BFA in Illustration.
Because I am a teacher, illustrator, and gift maker, my studio is definitely MIXIE! I work with all kinds of media including paint, shoes, clay, wood, paint, felt, paper, glue, paint, and, um PAINT? Here are a couple of snapshots from my studio.
